The Do-All FlyWay 30 Automatic Clay Pigeon Thrower
Forty years ago, some of my buddies and I started to take pheasant hunting very seriously. One of the traditions we started back then was meeting at a local wilderness area every Friday evening for four consecutive weeks before the opening day of Pheasant season, to shoot clay birds. I had an old, spring-loaded, ground mounted bird thrower that seemed to self-destruct every time we used it. I recall it mostly worked though. This brief training, over the course of a month, did increase our Pheasant hunting proficiency.
Years later, I joined an A-league trap team. This training was much more intense obviously, and I had an entire late summer/early fall to shoot hundreds of rounds. I remember hitting the field after my first season of competitive trap shooting. I inevitably had the rooster down before my buddies got their shotguns shouldered.
I have not been pheasant hunting in 25 years and I decided it’s time for me to start bird hunting again. First, I needed to assess my wing shooting skillset. My son was home on leave, and we used a cheap hand thrower to practice shooting at clay targets. He shot well. I shot very poorly. I hit 1 out of 4 attempts. My assessment was, I needed a lot of practice, and my son would soon be back on post. I needed a quality clay bird thrower I could use to practice by myself. I decided to check out the Do-All FlyWay 30 Automatic Clay Pigeon Thrower.

Heavy-duty gears and motor are in for the long-haul
The Do-All FlyWay 30 Automatic Clay Pigeon Thrower offers a 30-clay target feeder and a 2.5-second recycle time for fast action shooting. The Do-All FlyWay 30 Automatic Clay Pigeon Thrower requires a bit of assembly and a 12v battery to run the electric motor. It comes with a foot switch at the end of 10-foot of cord. All the user needs to do when the clay bird feeder is filled, is to step on the switch to launch a clay bird. It also features adjustable front legs, so you can set three different angles to suit your shot preferences. The Do-All FlyWay 30 Automatic Clay Pigeon Thrower also includes adjustable spring tension to control throwing distance.

It doesn’t take much to make me happy. A fall afternoon shooting clay birds will do.
Starting out, I backed the spring tension off as much as I could so that the clay birds would not go as fast. I still shot poorly. But, after two more boxes of shells, I was hitting about 90%.

A box of clay targets, a few boxes of shells and a fall afternoon. Sounds like fun.
As I improved, I stood as far back from the bird thrower as possible and adjusted the spring tension to maximum. The Do-All FlyWay 30 Automatic Clay Pigeon Thrower comes standard with a 30-clay target feeder so I could load up the thrower and shoot an entire box of shells.

We started out with a 12V 100AH battery and quickly realized that was overkill for 50 shells. A 12V 20AH lithium battery seemed to be a good balance of shooting time and light-weight.
The Do-All FlyWay 30 Automatic Clay Pigeon Thrower breaks down and fits into a large Home Depot tote for safe keeping. Using a 12v 20AH lithium battery, my son and I could get through 100 rounds of clay birds! I am very impressed with the Do-All FlyWay 30 Automatic Clay Pigeon Thrower. It is well made to hold up for many seasons and many shooting sessions.

In a pinch, a 12v 10 AH lithium battery will get you through a couple boxes of shells! With the spring cranked down and the leg set screw set to the second position, the Do-All FlyWay 30 Automatic Clay Pigeon Thrower can launch clay bird targets over 50 yards!
